School Overview

San Gabriel Elementary School is GISD's 11th elementary campus in the fast-growing community of Santa Rita Ranch. The project design was based on elementary schools that opened in 2020. Utilizing existing plans helps save design costs and expedite the construction timeline. Students will begin the 2024-25 school year in grade PreK-5.

GISD named Rebecca Lambert as the principal back in December of 2023. As principal, Lambert is facilitating the opening of the new campus, hiring staff, and developing new processes that ensure the campus’ alignment with the district’s mission, vision, beliefs and Strategic Direction. She has 12 years of experience in public education, most recently serving as principal at Village Elementary since 2020. Before that, she was assistant principal at both Village Elementary and East View High School and taught music, art, bilingual education and AP Spanish Literature and Culture at various GISD campuses.

“I am excited for the future of San Gabriel Elementary school with the leadership of Rebecca Lambert as their inaugural principal,” shared Superintendent Devin Padavil. “Rebecca is a strong leader that will establish a culture focused on student learning and student growth.”

Mrs. Lambert collaborated with community members to engage in a PTA Organizational meeting and Prinicpal’s Meet & Greet in March of this year, and was thrilled by the huge turnout of parents, students, and community. “Opening a school is an exciting endeavor, and it takes the whole community to do it well. Working together, I am confident that we are set to do great things at San Gabriel,” said Principal Lambert.
